MLB Twitter wishes Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. well after outfielder suffers knee injury

Ronald Acuna Jr. suffered a right knee injury in the Braves’ Saturday afternoon game against the Marlins in Miami.

Acuna was tracking a drive to deep right field by the Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm. He leaped but couldn’t make the catch. The ball went just over Acuna’s outstretched glove and hit off the base of the wall.

Acuna came down and crashed into the wall, and then couldn’t get up.

The outfielder tried to leave the field under his own power but couldn’t. He went back down to the turf and was eventually carted to the dugout and carried into the locker room by Atlanta staffers. He was visibly upset.

The injury doesn’t look good for the 23-year-old Acuna, who was named to his second All-Star team this week. The Braves had not provided an update on his condition as of this writing and manager Brian Snitker said on 680 The Fan that they’d know more in the morning about his status.

MLB Twitter is certainly worried about Acuna. It took time to send him well wishes after his injury.

Acuna entered Saturday with a .284/.392/.593 slash line and 24 home runs. Abraham Almonte replaced him in right field after the injury.
