NBA Rising Stars Game results, highlights: Cade Cunningham’s MVP effort leads Team Barry to victory

Not a bad way to start off All-Star Weekend, eh?

On Friday night, the future of the NBA was on full display in the Rising Stars Challenge. A mainstay at All-Star Weekend, this year brought about a new format in which four teams of seven engaged in a mini-tournament, with the first two games going to 50 and the Championship Game between the first two winners going to 25 points.

A number of stars stood out but none more than Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham, who took who MVP honors after scoring 18 points throughout the two-game tournament.

Championship Game: Team Barry 25, Team Isiah 20

11:27 p.m. – MVP Cade Cunningham.

11:15 p.m. – Franz Wagner. Game.

Wagner sinks a free throw to deliver the win for Team Barry, which takes home the championship in a fun tournament that showcased 28 of the game’s best young talents.

11:10 p.m. – Raptors big man Precious Achiuwa is making his case for MVP.

10:50 p.m. – Expect an increased sense of urgency here.

Not only is it the final, but the first team to 25 wins. Buckle up.

10:44 p.m. – Before the final, we had the Clorox Clutch Challenge, which saw four teams of two engage in a timed competition in which they had to knock down five shots from spots mirroring some of the most iconic shots from the NBA Playoffs.

The winners? Team Isiah’s Desmond Bane and Tyrese Haliburton. They’ve got one more championship to play for.

Houston’s second-year forward puts a little English on the finish to deliver the win for Team Barry.

The Final is set, we’ll have Team Barry vs. Team Isiah for the title.

This one pits Team Payton’s LaMelo Ball against Team Barry’s Cade Cunningham.

You know how the rules go now, first team to 50 takes on Team Isiah for the title.

Game 1: Team Isiah 50, Team Worthy 49

9:40 p.m. – Desmond Bane is cold as ice.

The Grizzlies’ sharpshooter knocked down two free throws to give Team Isiah a one-point win.

They’ll face the winner of Game 2 between Team Payton and Team Barry.

9:38 p.m. – Wondering why Cole Anthony was selected for the Slam Dunk Contest?
