The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, but they may not be able to keep all of their key players around in 2025. They could lose a fan-favorite to the New York Yankees who are trying to replace Juan Soto.
While predicting the next five moves for the Yankees, Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter predicted that the team would sign Dodgers All-Star Teoscar Hernández.
“After spending the 2024 season hitting behind Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman in the Dodgers lineup, Hernández is more than capable of serving as the primary protection for Aaron Judge,” wrote Reuter. “The Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers have all been linked to Hernández this offseason.”
MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo noted that the Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Dodgers are all in on Hernández. Hernández had a career year for the Dodgers and earned his second career All-Star selection. He hit 33 home runs and had 99 RBIs in 154 games for the World Series champions.
After losing Soto to the New York Mets, the Yankees might view Hernández as a must sign, and have money to spend on him as well. Reuter predicted the Yankees to reach a four-year, $96 million deal to pry the fan-favorite away from the Dodgers. Hernández seemingly loves the Dodgers as much as the fans love him. Hernández told reporters after the World Series that the Dodgers are his top choice, but it is not in his hands.
“The Dodgers will be my priority in free agency. I will do whatever is possible to return. It’s not in my hands, but if it were I’d pick them,” said Hernández.
