The New York Giants are approaching a delicate time of the season with the NFL trade deadline right around the corner.
Currently holding a 2-4 record entering Week 7, the Giants are trending in the wrong direction. They just lost left tackle Andrew Thomas for the remainder of the season, and quarterback Daniel Jones has been fine at best.
General manager Joe Schoen may face the difficult decision of trading some vital assets away if the season gets too far out of hand over the next few weeks.
As such, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report put together a 2024 NFL trade block big board entering Week 7.
Giants’ pass rusher Azeez Ojulari came in at the top spot with Knox proposing potential landing spots in the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions.
“The reality is that Ojulari just doesn’t appear to be a long-term building block in New York. Though the 24-year-old has recorded three sacks this season, he’s largely been a rotational player behind Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux,” Knox wrote. “With the 2-4 Giants close to falling out of contention, the impending free agent should be available for a price.”
On one hand, it makes sense to keep Ojulari. The Giants don’t have a viable pass rusher behind him with Thibodeaax on the Reserve/Injured list, and he’s coming off a breakout performance in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
On the other hand, that breakout performance could be the Giants’ opportunity to sell high on Ojulari. It’s very unlikely he re-signs with the team so it may behoove Schoen to at least get something in return for him.
The direction the Giants are heading should become more clear over the next few weeks so this will be something to keep an eye on.
