Newcastle United will be aiming to end a 13-match winless run against Liverpool in Premier League play when the teams meet at St James’ Park on Sunday.
The Magpies last won the fixture when they hosted the Reds in December 2015, condemning Reds manager Jurgen Klopp to his first away defeat in charge.
Liverpool and Arsenal were the only teams to win at Newcastle during the 2022/23 season, the former helped by the dismissal of home goalkeeper Nick Pope after 22 minutes.
Having thrashed Aston Villa 5-1 in their first home game of the new campaign, Eddie Howe’s side will be out for revenge and a victory that would take them above their opponents in the table.
