The 2022 NFL Combine is officially underway, which means it’s time for fans to pay attention to the little details.
Events such as the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and bench press are always the focus of the Combine, but the early afternoon before the start of those events gives scouts the first chance to take its official measurements of each athlete.
Who is the tallest tight end? Who is the heaviest running back? Which quarterback has the smallest hands? These are all important questions that are finalized as athletes prepare to show off their skills to scouts.
This year, one of the main focuses has been on Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett. The consensus first-round QB has been said to have small hands — 8.5 inches is the official measurement; smaller than any 2021 NFL starting quarterback — and it has been the subject of controversy for some reason. But as one recent Super Bowl-bound quarterback showed, hand size isn’t everything.
