NFL Draft order odds, explained: Why Panthers vs. Giants could decide 2025 No. 1 overall pick

By | November 10, 2024

As the Giants and Panthers prepare to play in Germany on Sunday, both teams seem too far out of playoff contention for the game to mean much. However, there is one area where the game can mean something significant: The NFL Draft order.

Every year, there’s always one or two games between two of the worst teams in the league that play a major role in the draft order. Last year, the Giants beat the Patriots, and the loss gave New England the third overall pick. With the win, the Giants picked sixth in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Over halfway through the NFL season, many teams are still in play for the top pick, making each win crucial to deciding the order.

Here is a look at the current top 10 picks for the 2025 NFL Draft ahead of the league’s Week 10 slate:

2025 NFL Draft order

  • 1. Patriots (2-7)
  • 2. Jaguars (2-7)
  • 3. Saints (2-7)
  • 4. Panthers (2-7)
  • 5. Browns (2-7)
  • 6. Raiders (2-7)
  • 7. Giants (2-7)
  • 8 Dolphins (2-6)
  • 9. Titans (2-6)
  • 10. Jets (3-6)

Since there are nine teams in the league this year with exactly two wins each, every victory by any of those teams could have a massive impact on the draft order. Therefore, the winner of this week’s game between New York and Carolina could be eliminated from contention for the No.1 pick, while the loser will have a greater chance at the top pick.

However, with so many teams still at two wins, there are still a few games that will directly impact the top of the drat order. Next week, the Saints play the Browns, and the week after, the Patriots and Dolphins square off. New York and New Orleans also have a game against each other later in the year, and so do the Raiders and the Jaguars.

2025 NFL Draft order odds

Caesars does not currently have odds for which team will earn the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. It does, however, have Colorado quarterback Shadeur Sanders as the most likely No. 1 overall pick. If they earn that coveted No. 1 spot, both the Giants and Panthers could be interested in Sanders.

Sanders’ teammate, two-way player Travis Hunter, has the second-best odds to go No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s followed by five different quarterbacks, including Quinn Ewers and Cam Ward.

With eight weeks left in the NFL season, there is still plenty of time for the NFL draft order to sort itself out. However, if the Giants and Panthers end up with the first pick, it will likely be in large part because they lost this game.
