Ohio State vs. Notre Dame live score, updates, highlights from Week 4 college football game

By | September 23, 2023

Last season’s matchup between Ohio State and Notre Dame was the highlight of the Week 1 schedule, but the Fighting Irish just weren’t up to the task offensively.

Marcus Freeman’s team put up only 10 points, and a solid showing from the defense just wasn’t enough to manage a win in Columbus. Expectations have shifted entirely heading into this season’s showdown.

With transfer QB Sam Hartman carving up defenses and the running game taking off thanks to a strong start by Audric Estime, Notre Dame’s offense looks more formidable than it’s been in a number of years. As Freeman becomes more comfortable in his role, it’s becoming clear that the Fighting Irish are still national contenders.

On the other side, Ohio State is dealing with some questions after going largely untested through three games. Kyle McCord seems to have settled in as C.J. Stroud’s successor at QB, but is he ready to go into a raucous environment and take down a fellow top-10 team?

Saturday night will also be a showcase for Buckeyes WR Marvin Harrison Jr., who has posted at least 125 yards and a touchdown in each of his last two games.

In the last season of the four-team playoff era, the stakes in South Bend are pretty straightforward. One of these teams will come away well positioned to go and snag a playoff spot, while the other will face an uphill climb the rest of the way.
