Ohio State vs. Oregon live score, updates, highlights from marquee Big Ten-Pac-12 game

By | September 11, 2021

No. 12 Oregon faces its toughest test of the season when the Ducks travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on No. 3 Ohio State — not good for a Ducks team that needed all four quarters to beat Fresno State 31-24 in Week 1.

But then, the Buckeyes face the same situation; they got Minnesota’s best shot in their season-opening game, only sealing the game with a 61-yard touchdown connection between C.J. Stroud and Chris Olave with fewer than five minutes left in the game. The Buckeyes won 45-31 but, as the score indicates, this Ohio State defense is susceptible to giving up points.

That’s good news for Oregon, fresh off a game in which it put up only 358 yards. Anthony Brown, who completed 15 of 24 passes for 172 yards against the Bulldogs, will need to have a considerably better game if Oregon wants to have a real shot at beating Ohio State. If he does improve from Week 1, he could lead the Ducks to their first series victory over the scarlet and gray in 10 tries.

Similarly, look for Stroud to clean up some small mistakes and accuracy issues against Minnesota. Whether Oregon can get pressure on him will go a long way in determining how he plays. To that end, the loss of defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and linebacker Justin Flowe could be a huge hit to Oregon’s defense success.
