The Green Bay Packers will hit the road in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers for “Sunday Night Football.”
This game marks the first time that veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face the Packers since the organization traded him to the New York Jets in the 2023 offseason.
Green Bay enters this game with a 4-1-1 record. The lone loss of the season was a shocking upset to the Cleveland Browns, and Green Bay followed that up with a 40-40 tie against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Since the Packers’ Week 5 bye, they have beaten the Cincinnati Bengals and the Arizona Cardinals in consecutive games.
Pittsburgh will head into this matchup coming off a loss. The Steelers went on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday in Week 7 but couldn’t stop Joe Flacco. Rodgers had a great game, but Flacco was better, winning 33-31 over Pittsburgh. The Steelers are 4-2 but remain atop the AFC North heading into Week 8.

10:57 p.m. — The Green Bay drive starts with a skirmish. The Steelers were flagged for unnecessary roughness, giving free yardage to the Packers. Pittsburgh played “Renegade” by Styx to try and inspire a boost to the defense. Wilson starts the drive with a 15-yard gain, and then Love hit him through the air for four more.
Love then hit Kraft for his second touchdown of the day.

Fourth Quarter
10:38 p.m. — Love begins the drive, finding Wilson for a 14-yard gain as the backup running back weaved through the defense. Wilson then picked up four yards on the next play. Love then hit Heath for a gain of seven before Wilson picked up six on the ground. The Green Bay quarterback has completed 12 passes in a row, finding Golden for a gain of four to bring up first down.
Love checks down to Jacobs for a gain of two. Jacobs then picked up one yard to set up third and long. Love scrambles and throws it deep, the ball floats right into the arms of Watson for a gain of 33. The Packers have the ball at the Steelers’ 7-yard line.

Jacobs picked up four yards on the ground, and we are heading to the fourth quarter.
FIELD GOAL — Steelers 19, Packers 14
10:28 p.m. — Warren picked up four yards to begin the drive as Freiermuth returns to the field. Rodgers then hit Metcalf for a 24-yard gain. The veteran quarterback then hit Warren for 11 yards. Rodgers looked like he got sacked, and the ball came out of his hands and it looked like a fumble. The replay showed that Rodgers’ veteran savvy had him throwing the ball to his running back’s feet while getting tackled. It was ruled an incomplete pass.
On second and 10, Rodgers quickly hit Austin, but he bobbled it, and when he finally came down with it, he had no yards. On third and 10, Rodgers takes the first timeout of the half. The quarterback missed Metcalf, but Boswell saved the drive nailing a 56-yard kick.
TOUCHDOWN — Steelers 16, Packers 14
10:20 p.m. — Jacobs starts the drive with a run for no gain. Love then hit Luke Musgrave for five yards. He then hit Kraft for a 59-yard gain. The tight end likely got away with offensive pass interference, but the play stands. A Pittsburgh defender was hurt on the play, and so there was a brief timeout.

10:05 p.m. — Rodgers begins the second half with an incomplete pass. He then hit Freiermuth for a two-yard gain, but his tight end was hurt on the play. Rodgers then missed Roman Wilson deep, and it was a quick three-and-out to start the third quarter.
Third Quarter
END OF FIRST HALF — Steelers 16, Packers 7
9:45 p.m. — Love hit Jacobs for eight yards and then Watson for a gain of 19. Green Bay takes its second timeout with 18 seconds to go in the first half.
Jacobs only gained two yards, but TJ Watt was called for a face mask penalty, which put the Packers on the Steelers’ 36-yard line. Love hit Heath over the middle for a gain of nine, and Green Bay takes its final timeout with two seconds left.
McManus missed from 57 yards earlier, but this attempt was from 44 yards. He missed wide left.
TOUCHDOWN — Steelers 16, Packers 7
9:39 p.m. — Warren starts the drive off running for nine yards. It looked like the running back had gotten the first down with his first carry, but was the recipient of a really bad spot. He took matters into his own hands and then picked up 17 yards on second down. Calvin Austin III brought in his first reception of the game for seven yards. Gainwell then picked up 14 yards to get on the Green Bay side of the field at the two-minute warning.
On the other side of the break, Gainwell picked up one yard and then Rodgers missed Austin. The quarterback was pressured and had to just throw the ball up, Austin tried to come back for it but couldn’t because of the defender so drew a defensive pass interference call.
Pittsburgh gets a fresh set of downs on the 15-yard line. Warren picks up three on first down. Rodgers rolls out and then hits Metcalf for a 10-yard gain. He goes out of bounds with 37 seconds left in the half. Rodgers then hits Metcalf on a quick slant for the score.

9:27 p.m. — The Packers’ drive begins with Love hitting John FitzPatrick for a four-yard gain. Jacobs then picks up three on the ground, before Love misses Kraft on third down. It was a very quick three-and-out, and Pittsburgh will get the ball back with 4:13 left in the first half.
FIELD GOAL — Steelers 9, Packers 7
9:20 p.m. — Rodgers found Ben Skowronek for a 12-yard gain. Warren picked up two yards to get to midfield. Rodgers then threw an incompletion, but the play was wiped out by defensive holding, giving the Steelers a fresh set of downs.
Warren ran straight up the middle for nine yards, and then picked up six. The Steelers went to the well a few too many times and the running back got dropped for a loss of five. Rodgers then hit Gainwell for a gain of one and tight end Jonnu Smith for a gain of nine. Before a field goal attempt, Cam Heyward was whistled for a false start, pushing Boswell’s field goal back to a 48-yard attempt. He still hit it.
9:12 p.m. — On first down, Love tried to throw deep to Doubs, but it fell incomplete. A Pittsburgh defender was injured during the play.
After a brief break, Jacobs ran up the middle for one yard. On third down, Love was hit while he was throwing. The referees reviewed the hit for a potential penalty, but it ended up being on Green Bay for illegal hands to the face. Green Bay punts with about 11 minutes to go in the first half.
FIELD GOAL — Packers 7, Steelers 6
9:03 p.m. — Rodgers found Metcalf for a five-yard gain. Kenneth Gainwell then moved the chains with a rush of nine yards. Gainwell then lost a yard on first down, before picking up eight on second down. Rodgers missed Metcalf on third down and Boswell was called on for a 50-yard field goal, which he nailed.
8:59 p.m. — On the other side of the break, Love missed Doubs, and then Brandon McManus was just short on a 57-yard field goal attempt.
Second Quarter
8:55 p.m. — Green Bay starts the drive off with some ball security issues. Keisean Nixon muffed the punt, but Green Bay was able to recover it. Backup running back Emmanuel Wilson ran the ball for an eight-yard gain, but then fumbled the ball out of bounds. Wilson picked up two yards on second down to move the chains, and then Love hit Kraft for a huge 33-yard gain to get into Pittsburgh territory.

Savion Williams had a one-yard rush, and then Love hit Matthew Golden for a one-yard loss to bring up third and nine. This brought up the end of the first quarter.
8:48 p.m. — Mike Tomlin has the record for consecutive games without scoring more than seven points in the first quarter. The Steelers have three when they take over, with a chance to end the streak.
Warren picked up two on first down, but then there was an illegal shift on second down. After the penalty, Rodgers missed Calvin Austin III, and then his third down pass to Pat Freiermuth only went for five when the Steelers needed 13.
The streak remains alive, for now, as the Steelers punt.
TOUCHDOWN — Packers 7, Steelers 3
8:41 p.m. — Jacobs starts the drive with a three-yard gain before quarterback Jordan Love nailed Doubs for a 24-yard pickup. Jacobs added five yards before Doubs had another reception, this time for 6. Love then hit Malik Heath for a 13-yard gain to get into the redzone.
Love then hit Tucker Kraft for a 16-yard touchdown on National Tight Ends Day.

Warren picks up five before DK Metcalf got called for an offensive pass interference penalty, erasing his first reception of the night. Rodgers hit Warren for no gain and then got sacked for a five-yard loss. Steelers kicker Chris Boswell nailed a 56-yard attempt for the first points of the night.
8:27 p.m. — Green Bay starts with the ball. Running back Josh Jacobs should get plenty of work against the Pittsburgh run defense, or lack thereof. He picks up four on his first carry, and Christian Watson gets five on second down. Watson is playing in his first game of the season after being activated off of IR.
The drive ends after a Romeo Doubs incompletion, and Rodgers will get his first crack at his former team’s defense.
First Quarter
8:20 p.m. — We are about to get underway. The Steelers won the toss and defer. The Packers’ offense will take the field first.

7:15 p.m. — One thing to watch for Sunday night will be the condition of the field. Pittsburgh last played at home in Week 6 and kicker Chris Boswell was shown slipping on the field during a field goal attempt because of how bad the conditions were. The Steelers had the field re-sodded that night.
The University of Pittsburgh played on the field on Saturday, ahead of the Packers-Steelers game. This isn’t unheard of, but the field doesn’t look pristine on Sunday night.
Field doesnβt look quite as great from a birdseye view in the press box. Looks like thereβs some dry patches in the sod. https://t.co/250otio67A pic.twitter.com/RRAHLr8MUL
