Patriots are receiving trade calls on star defender ahead of NFL’s deadline

The NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and teams are hungry to make moves to solidify their positions as contenders in the short and long term.

With the New England Patriots being just 2-6 with days to go, it’s no surprise that other teams have called, and they’ve already traded away linebacker Joshua Uche to the defending Super Bowl champions and currently undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.

However, that’s not the only valuable player that other teams are interested in.

According to Josina Anderson, New England has also received multiple calls on cornerback Christian Gonzalez. She also reported that Gonzalez is not for sale, but the Patriots are looking to buy at other positions of need.

Gonzalez has been great since the Patriots selected him in the first round of last year’s draft. Although he missed most of his rookie season with a shoulder injury, he still earned Rookie of the Month honors in his first month in the league and has looked impressive to start the year.

Despite drawing opposing offenses’ top weapons, Gonzalez has locked down nearly everyone he’s lined up against this year, including Davante Adams, who went catch-less on four targets with Gonzalez in coverage last week.

There are certainly players that the Patriots are willing to part with, but Gonzalez isn’t and shouldn’t be one of them.
