PFF ranks Rams QB Matthew Stafford among the best in the NFL

The Los Angeles Rams are pinning their hopes on the arm of quarterback Matthew Stafford to once again take them to a Super Bowl, which isn’t a bad strategy considering his talent. They have invested fully into the offensive line and re-doubled their efforts in the run game and on defense to maximize him.

Pro Football Focus still fully believes in Stafford’s talent, ranking him among the best quarterbacks in the NFL. In their latest quarterback rankings, PFF ranked Stafford 7th overall among all 32 starting quarterbacks in the “Postseason-caliber QBs” in Tier 3.

“Something something about fine wines getting better with age. Stafford had a fantastic season at age 35. His 83.8 passing grade in the regular season ranked seventh in the league, while his 32 big-time throws were the fifth most and his 2.1% turnover-worthy play rate placed second, behind only Prescott. Stafford has long had one of the best arms in the league, and even if that total arm talent is going down slightly, he’s making up for it with wisdom, creativity and craftiness.”

Stafford joined Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers, Jalen Hurts, and C.J. Stroud in Tier 3. This feels like a fair and accurate rating for Stafford, who too often falls too low in QB rankings. He is still one of the best in the game and will carry the Rams for the foreseeable future.
