Pirates free live streams: How to watch 2023 Pittsburgh baseball games without cable

By | July 14, 2023

Although the Reds have dominated the headlines in the National League Central lately, the Pirates have put together a surprising season of their own.

Led by outfielder Bryan Reynolds and fan favorite Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh contended in the National League Central for most of the first half. With a preseason win total of 67.5, per Vegas Insider, the Bucs have outpaced that number through the All-Star break.

No. 1 starter Mitch Keller made the National League All-Star team after a strong first half, while Rich Hill continued to sip from the Fountain of (relative) Youth. Another All-Star, David Bednar, has been one of the top closers in baseball.

Although the Pirates certainly aren’t World Series-ready, they are close to NL Central-ready. If they’re playing for something in August and September — likely without shortstop Oneil Cruz, who is recovering from a fractured fibula — then that will be something for fans to get excited about.

In addition to McCutchen and Reynolds, Jack Suwinski has brought power to the lineup and first baseman Carlos Santana has been solid at 37.

Can the Pirates make a run at a playoff berth ahead of schedule? Fans need to watch to find out. Here’s how to view the club as it attempts to earn the franchise’s first postseason berth since 2015.

Pirates live streams

A majority of Pirates games will be carried by AT&T SportsNet, a regional sports network owned by Warner Bros Discovery.

Fubo carries AT&T Sports Net, which makes the streaming service one of the best options to watch Pirates games during the 2023 campaign for those in the Pittsburgh market. Fubo offers a Pro and an Elite package, both of which carry AT&T SportsNet in local markets, as well as 174 channels.

How to watch Pirates games without cable

There are several ways to watch the Pirates in the Pittsburgh market without cable, but out-of-market fans will either have to wait for national broadcasts or watch with MLB.tv, which imposes regional blackouts.

— Fans in the Pittsburgh market can use Fubo to stream AT&T SportsNet. Most remaining Pirates games are scheduled to be broadcast on the network. Fubo carries ESPN, MLB Network, Fox and FS1. Those outside the Pittsburgh area will not be able to get AT&T SportsNet on Fubo.

— There is also the option to find AT&T SportsNet using DirecTV Stream, meaning fans in the local market can use that streaming service to watch most Pirates games throughout the year. It will also have access to nationally broadcast games that aren’t impacted by regional blackouts.

— YouTube TVHulu + Live TV and Sling TV will carry games that are shown on ESPN, TBS, Fox, and FS1. But none of the services carries AT&T SportsNet, meaning fans in the Pittsburgh areas will not be able to watch most games.
