Red Sox option struggling 1B to Triple-A Worcester

After losing to the San Francisco Giants 3-1, the Boston Red Sox have made a roster move.

According to Audacy’s Rob Bradford, the Red Sox have optioned infielder Bobby Dalbec to Triple-A Worcester. Boston needed a roster spot with Vaughn Grissom set to make his debut on Friday.

In 22 games for the major-league club this year, Dalbec has hit .132 with four RBIs, two stolen bases and a .377 OPS in 53 at-bats.

For now, it appears that new Red Sox Garrett Cooper and Dominic Smith will split time at first base, and Zack Short can play third base if Devers needs a day off from the field.
