Russell Wilson is a mobile quarterback, but could he be on the move?
Wilson was, once again, sacked an exorbitant amount of times in 2020, getting put on the ground 47 times. Wilson was sacked 48 times in 2019.
This has grown to frustration, per a report, with CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reporting on Tuesday that Wilson’s camp has grown “increasingly frustrated by the Seahawks’ inability to protect” him.
I’m hearing Russell Wilson’s camp has grown increasingly frustrated by the Seahawks inability to protect the 8 time Pro Bowler. He has been sacked 394 times in 9 seasons. This situation warrants serious monitoring.

La Canfora also adds that “this situation warrants serious monitoring.”
The “serious monitoring” part is especially intriguing, considering that a separate La Canfora report indicated that several teams checked in on the availability of the Seahawks’ QB, leading to speculation that there might be a little bit of a schism growing between the two sides. NFL Network insiders reported that there’s “no chance” the Seahawks trade Wilson.
Wilson, 32, is entering Year 10 of his NFL career, and he has been sacked 394 times in 144 regular-season games. He has never been sacked fewer than 33 times in a season, and that came in his rookie year in 2012. PFF has the ‘Hawks offensive line ranked 14th in the league after the conclusion of the regular season.
While the Seahawks have made attempts to upgrade the offensive line in recent years, the efforts have proven fruitless. Wilson’s 47 sacks were tied for third-most in the league, though he played like an MVP QB the first half of the season.
The team also canned offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer this offseason after another disappointing early playoff exit, a move that Wilson wasn’t too happy with.
With the report of disappointment, the questioning of the firing of Schottenheimer and NFL squads giving Seattle a call wondering about Wilson’s availability, where there’s smoke, fire usually follows.
