The Saints have entered their Derek Carr era. After a 9–8 season saw New Orleans miss out on both a division title and playoff berth based on a tiebreaker, the Saints are hoping to find the talent to push them back into the postseason in this year’s NFL Draft.
With nine picks at their disposal, they have a good amount of ammo heading into the weekend in Detroit, though just two of their picks come in the first four rounds, meaning they might have to do some wheeling and dealing if they want to move up and grab their guy.

Saints NFL Draft needs
- Wide receiver: Chris Olave made it clear last year that he’s ready to be a No. 1 receiver. Behind him, Rashid Shaheed is an impressive big-play threat, but there’s room on the depth chart for some more talent here.
- Offensive line: The Saints have gaps across the offensive line, and will be looking for some immediate talent to step in and take on a big role. New Orleans may very be in a “best lineman available” mode in the early rounds of the draft.
