Saints should trade notable former draft pick to Chiefs, says NFL analysts

By | August 26, 2024

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller flirted with the roster bubble as the preseason neared its end due to his availability struggles and the depth already on the roster.

That reality has one NFL analyst suggesting the Saints go ahead and listen to trade offers, should other teams pick up the phone.

Bleacher Report recently outlined every team’s biggest need around NFL roster cuts and suggested the Kansas City Chiefs should call about Miller:

“Kendre Miller’s stock in New Orleans isn’t very high due to a series of injuries he has suffered, but the Chiefs have taken chances on players whose careers were off to rocky starts before and there’s enough to like about the former third-round pick to give him a shot.”

A third-round pick in 2023, Miller appeared in just eight games as a rookie and is now struggling to get involved in the program again this summer. That plants him well behind Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams on the depth chart, at least.

The fact that Saints head coach Dennis Allen recently had to comment about Miller’s ability to even pick up the system because he can’t stay on the field says it all.

So yes, if a team like the Chiefs comes calling, perhaps they sign off on a move. The other names around Miller’s spot on the depth chart, at least, have been available and shown they can work within the offense.
