Shohei Ohtani opened the scoring Tuesday at the 2024 MLB All-Star Game with none other than a towering 400-foot smash into the stands at Globe Life Field.

His home run in the top of the third inning put the National League up by three before the American League came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the score.

The blast marked Ohtani’s first All-Star Game home run and the first Dodgers homer in an All-Star Game since Mike Piazza in 1996. The 30-year-old two-way star also becomes one of seven National League All-Stars to drive in three or more runs with an All-Star Game home run, putting him on a list that features Barry Bonds.

In fact, in Ohtani’s three previous All-Star appearances, he had recorded a total of one hit, which came in 2022.

Sporting News will update this story.
