The Super Bowl MVP award has been dominated by quarterbacks over the years, so it should come as no surprise that the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and 49ers’ Brock Purdy are the top two favorites on the Super Bowl 58 odds board.
What is surprising, though, is that the quarterback of the underdog is priced at the very top of the betting board. Scroll through Super Bowl MVP odds from our favorite sports betting apps right here:
Of course, odds are likely to change in the days leading up to the game. While quarterbacks often win, they aren’t always honored with the award. Two of the last 10 winners were wide receivers, and two were linebackers.

Super Bowl MVP bets to consider: Mahomes or Purdy worth a bet as favorites?
No one will blame you if you put money down on either of the two quarterbacks. Mahomes () is a two-time Super Bowl MVP and knows what it takes to win the Big Game. Purdy () is the quarterback for the No. 2 scoring offense in the NFL this season.
One school of thought is if that if you think Mahomes is the no-doubt MVP should the Chiefs win the game, a Mahomes to win MVP bet pays better than the Chiefs moneyline ()
The following are a few players with longer odds worth consideration:
Christian McCaffrey’s odds to win Super Bowl MVP
Brock Purdy is the leader of the 49ers offense, but McCaffrey is its heart and soul. This season, he led the NFL in rushing yards, all-purpose yards, and touchdowns. There is a good chance McCaffrey will make the explosive plays Super Bowl MVP voters want to see.
However, history is against him. A running back has not won Super Bowl MVP since Terrell Davis did it for the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 32.
Travis Kelce’s odds to win Super Bowl MVP
A tight end has never won Super Bowl MVP, but with a performance like the one he had vs. the Ravens in the AFC title game (11 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown), Kelce could become the first.
Longshot Super Bowl MVP bets to consider
Defensive players have won Super Bowl MVP 10 times, with linebackers taking four of them. When it comes to defenders, voters tend to lean towards guys who make big plays, e.g., sacks, turnovers, etc.
- Nick Bosa
- Chris Jones
- Fred Warner +19000
- George Karlaftis
Tackles, TFLs, sacks, forced turnovers, and the rare defensive TD all bode well for these longshots …Jones and Karlaftis led the Chiefs in sacks this season with 10.5 each, but Karlaftis has had a more active postseason (2.5 to .5).
