Same old jokes.
“Ted Lasso,” famed fictional head soccer coach, is back for Season 2 of his show this July, and the coach didn’t waste any time pouring cold water on Jets fans eagerly awaiting a new era of football.
Played by Jason Sudeikis, Lasso is a former college football coach who finds himself coaching AFC Richmond, a Premier League soccer team, and he’s got jokes. Oh, he’s got jokes. In the Season 2 trailer released on Tuesday, Lasso’s side-splitting humor is on display, with an epic roast of the Jets closing out the preview.

“Back home, if a team was playing poorly, we don’t call them unlucky,” Lasso says. “What do we call ’em?”
“New York Jets.”
*Extremely salty Jets fan voice.* Very funny, guys.
The “Ted Lasso” series sprung to life after Sudeikis portrayed the character in a series of commercials for NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage in the early 2010s. The series has been released to critical acclaim, with Sudeikis winning a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the character.
The Jets, on the other hand, are still searching for their first bit of hardware since Super Bowl 3 more than 50 years ago, and are hoping new head coach Robert Saleh and a new QB selected in the 2021 NFL Draft will bring them another fresh Lombardi Trophy.
It’s a shame the Super League is already DOA. That would have made great material for Season 3.
