Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou live fight updates, results, highlights from 2023 boxing fight

By | October 28, 2023

It’s the proverbial clash of the titans when WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou meet in a non-title boxing match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This is a crossover fight of epic proportions as Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) will step back into a boxing ring for the first time since successfully defending his title with a 10th-round stoppage of Derek Chisora last December.

There were expectations that Fury would battle unified champion Oleksandr Usyk to determine the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. However, when talks broke down, Fury turned to an unlikely opponent for a fight that has captured the public’s imagination.

Ngannou steps up to make his professional boxing debut after a decorated run as the UFC heavyweight champion. The heavy-handed Ngannou holds the Guinness Book World Record for hardest punch ever measured, and spent his UFC tenure separating his opponents from their senses with 12 knockouts in 20 fights. He now looks to test the granite chin of Fury and shock the world in Riyadh.

Fury has already signed on to face Usyk after Ngannou, but the 37-year-old Cameroonian will look to alter those plans with one devastating punch.

Stay tuned as The Sporting News will provide live updates from this blockbuster event.

Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou updates, results, highlights

3:33 p.m. ET: You want knockouts? Well, another one just took place as Joseph Parker destroyed Simon Kean with a blistering uppercut. Parker clipped Kean and Kean responded by waving Parker in. That bravado got Kean knocked out as Parker rolled in and launched a devastating uppercut that sank his opponent for the duration of the ten count. Sometimes, you get what you asked for.

3:02 p.m. ET: Coming up next is Joseph Park as a significant favorite against Simon Kean.

2:48 p.m. ET: And we have yet another first round knockout. Arslanbek Makhmudov put Anthony Wright down early in the first and then detonated another tremendous right hand to finish the job.

2:38 p.m. ET: Up next is more heavyweight action that few expect to need the judges to render a result as Arslanbek Makhmudov faces Anthony Wright.

2:26 p.m. ET: Two heavyweight fights, two knockouts. Martin Bakole struck first, taking out Carlos Takam with a fourth round TKO. Shortly after, Moses Itauma wasted little time dispatching of Istvan Bernath in a matter of seconds.
