The UFC returns to Boston where a pair of title fights will headline UFC 292.
The main event will see Aljamain Sterling look to turn back the challenge of rising star Sean O’Malley in defense of his UFC bantamweight championship.
Sterling captured the title back in 2021 and has successfully defended it three times with victories over Petr Yan, T.J. Dillashaw, and Henry Cejudo. His three consecutive title defenses are the most in divisional history and he’ll look to pad his lead against the viral sensation O’Malley.
O’Malley burst onto the scene through Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2017 with a highlight reel knockout of Alfred Khashakyan. Hip Hop legend Snoop Dogg posted about him on social media and his career has taken off since then. He pulled off a massive upset of Yan with a split decision victory last October and will now look to fulfill his prophecy by beating Sterling for the gold.
The co-main event finds Zhang Weili defending her women’s strawweight title against Amanda Lemos.
Zhang is on her second tour as champion. She first won it in 2019 when she steamrolled Jessica Andrade and had one successful title defense before being knocked out by Rose Namajunas in 2021. She reclaimed the gold by submitting Carla Esparza last November and hopes to have a longer tenure as champion this time.
Lemos is coming off of back-to-back wins with a submission victory over Michelle Waterson and a stoppage of Marina Rodriguez to put herself in position to challenge for the strawweight title.
Will she be able to dethrone Zhang or will the champion retain and go on another run as champion?
