UFC Paris full card results, schedule for Ciryl Gane vs. Sergey Spivak, Rose Namajunas vs. Manon Fiorot

By | September 2, 2023

The UFC heads back to Paris, where Ciryl Gane headlines in his home country against Sergey Spivak at the Accor Arena on September 2.

Gane returns to action for the first time since being submitted by Jon Jones for the UFC heavyweight title back in March. The two-time title contender is 1-2 in his last three fights after starting his professional MMA career on a 10-fight win streak.

Standing in his way will be the surging Spivak, currently riding a three-fight winning streak, with all three fights won via submission. After being stopped by Tom Aspinall in September 2021, Spivak dominated Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and former title contender Derrick Lewis to put himself in a position to challenge Gane.

Gane is a phenomenal striker, but his weakness has been his ground game, and that is exactly where Spivak excels. Both are in need of a win to stay in the title hunt, while the loser falls to the back of the line in the heavyweight division.

The co-main event is a bout with title implications, as the No. 3 ranked flyweight Manon Fiorot will face former women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, who makes her debut in the 125-pound division.

Namajunas was last seen dropping her title with a split decision loss to Carla Esparza in May 2022. The two-time strawweight champion turned in a bizarre performance completely devoid of action in one of the most underwhelming championship fights in recent memory. After spending over a year away from the sport, “Thug Rose” moves up to flyweight and looks to get her first victory against an opponent who hasn’t lost since her MMA debut.

Fiorot is a striking dynamo who bounced back after a split decision loss in her pro debut to win 10 straight fights heading into Saturday’s bout against Namajunas. With wins over Katlyn Chookagian, Jennifer Maia, and Mayra Bueno Silva over the past two years, Fiorot is perhaps one win away from challenging the winner of the rematch between Valentina Shevchenko and current flyweight champion Alexa Grasso. However, Namajunas’ proven track record suggests she could jump the line should she be the first to hand Fiorot a loss in the UFC.

The Sporting News will provide up-to-the-minute results for the fight card.
