Following the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the U.S. men’s national team will now embark on the most important four-year World Cup cycle in the history of the men’s program.
That’s because the USA will host the 2026 World Cup alongside CONCACAF neighbors Canada and Mexico, with all eyes on the Stars & Stripes, who will be carrying high expectations heading into the tournament.
Since the USA automatically qualifies to the World Cup as host, the team will miss out on competitive qualifying matches, but there are reports that the 2024 Copa America will come to the United States. There are also two Gold Cup and Nations League tournaments between now and then that will also provide competitive action.
With the 2023 calendar year in motion and the next cycle already underway, The Sporting News brings you the full year’s list of fixtures confirmed on the U.S. schedule, as well as the results as they happen.

USMNT schedule 2023
The United States currently only have four confirmed matches on the 2023 schedule, but more will be on their way during what projects to be a busy summer.
The CONCACAF Nations League finals and the CONCACAF Gold Cup are scheduled to take place back-to-back in June and July, and the Americans are the defending champions in both competitions.

CONCACAF Nations League 2023
The USA will be hoping to defend its title in the Nations League finals to be held in June 2023, but first it was required for them to qualify for the final stage by finishing atop of Group D. They managed to do just that, ending with 10 points through four matches, just two points shy of the maximum.
That saw the U.S. advance to a June semifinal against the winner of either Group A, B, or C. The championship match will be held just a couple of days later, with both games to be held in Las Vegas.

Group D schedule
In the CONCACAF Nations League finals in June 2023, the final four teams are re-ranked by points gained through the group stage to determine semifinal matchups. Goal difference, goals scored, and away goals scored provide the first three tiebreakers in this re-seeding process.
The top team in the re-seeded table faces the bottom team, while the second-placed team faces the third-placed team. Each semifinalist is guaranteed two more games, as the winners will advance to the finals while the losers will meet in the third place match. The schedule for the semifinals and finals has not yet been set.

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2023
The Americans are also defending champions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which is held every other year in odd-numbered years. In 2023 it will once again be hosted by the United States and run from June 24-July 16.
Technically, all teams must qualify for the Gold Cup through the CONCACAF Nations League, and the U.S. have done so, as have Canada and Mexico, by finishing among the top two of their group to qualify directly. Others can also qualify for the tournament through the preliminary rounds, but that will not be necessary for the USMNT.
In the 2023 Gold Cup, 16 teams will contest the title: 15 from CONCACAF plus guest nation Qatar, who have been invited to participate in 2023 as they were two years ago in the 2021 tournament, when they reached the semifinals.
What is the Continental Clasico?
In early March of 2023, U.S. Soccer announced a new annual event known as the Continental Clasico, in which the USMNT will play a varying team from North, Central, or South America.
In the inaugural Continental Clasico, the USMNT will take on rivals Mexico on April 19 in Glendale, Arizona.
However, since the match does not fall within a designated FIFA international window, it’s unlikely that top, European-based players will feature for either nation. Instead, the rosters will largely be made up of domestic-based players that are voluntarily released from their club.
