Colorado’s postseason hopes all come down to this.
The Buffaloes need to win their final two games in order to play a bowl game for just the second time since 2016. While they’ve been on a downward spiral after starting the season 3-0, making it to November without being eliminated from bowl contention is a win itself.
Washington State has had a similar season, starting the year 4-0 before losing the next six games. Looking at the Cougars now, it’s hard to believe they were ranked as high as 13th. To put it simply, Colorado-Washington State will be a matchup of the worst teams in the Pac-12.
Both teams are coming off losses in games that should have been won.
Washington State almost pulled off a come-from-behind win over Cal, but a missed 48-yard field goal and an interception closed out the loss. Colorado led Arizona at going into the fourth quarter, but once again, field goals were detrimental. With the game tied, the Wildcats nailed a 24-yarder as time expired to take the victory in Boulder. On Colorado’s previous possession, its kicker missed a go-ahead field goal.
The Cougars have the advantage as both teams fight for a postseason berth, predicted to win by 4.5 points. But with an emotional game expected and momentum built from previous weeks, could we see an upset on the horizon in Pullman?
