After dramatic opening-night victories at the 2025 Women’s College World Series, UCLA and Texas Tech clash on the diamond on Saturday afternoon.
The ninth-seeded Bruins stunned Oregon 4-2 on a walk-off home run from Jessica Clements on Thursday. The heroics marked an auspicious start to the WCWS for the Bruins, the last program not named Oklahoma to win a WCWS title, doing so back in 2019.
Meanwhile, the Red Raiders secured a monumental win for their burgeoning softball outfit, notching the program’s first-ever WCWS win on Thursday afternoon. Ace NiJaree Canady dazzled with her 19th complete game of the season, as the top-notch transfer steered Texas Tech to a 1-0 win over Ole Miss.
Now, UCLA and Texas Tech will meet on Saturday, with the winner set to put themselves in the driver’s seat for a spot in the WCWS finals. The loser will be pushed to the brink of elimination.
Will the miracle ride continue for the 12th-seeded Red Raiders? Or will the Bruins, a program replete with history, assert their dominance?
