One of the NHL’s best traditions features new faces this year, as the league’s youngest franchises are set to meet at the 2024 Winter Classic.

The Kraken, following a thrilling 100-point season, are still looking to hit their stride. They currently sit in the thick of a crowded Western Conference.
This marks the second matchup between the two teams this season. They last met in the season-opener on Oct. 10, as the Golden Knights raised their Stanley Cup banner and cruised to a 4-1 victory.

2024 Winter Classic jerseys
Winter Classic jerseys are famous for their retro looks. But, with the league’s two youngest franchises meeting at this year’s event, it posed an outside-the-box challenge.
The Golden Knights drew their inspiration from the city of Las Vegas, basing the uniform designs off the city itself in the year 1917 — 100 years before the inception of the Golden Knights. The color scheme includes a vintage white and a heritage gold, resembling the working-class theme of the old western front.
The Kraken’s uniforms draw off the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans, an old Pacific Coast Hockey Association team credited as the first American team to win the Stanley Cup. The uniforms feature a barber-pole striping of three different colors: deep sea blue, ice blue and off-white.
