The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to get underway this July as countries from all over the globe are ready to fight for the trophy.

The competition will begin on July 20, 2023, and will finish a month later on August 20, 2023. The tournament will take place in Australia and New Zealand, with 10 stadiums hosting matches across nine different cities.

It is the first time 32 countries will take part in a Women’s World Cup, with previous editions only featuring 24 teams. Six different confederations will be represented in the summer.

While everyone will be looking forward to who is crowned champion in 2023, we have an eye on the future and 2027.

When is the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup?

The next Women’s World Cup in 2027 will be the 10th edition of the FIFA tournament. A special event may take place to commemorate the landmark tournament.

The competition is set to start earlier than the 2023 tournament, the dates are currently set between June and July 2027. This could change closer to the time of the World Cup.

Who will play at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup?

Like the 2023 edition, 32 different countries will take part in the 2027 Women’s World Cup. There will be eight groups of four teams and a total of 64 matches throughout the tournament.

Europe will be the most-represented continent at the World Cup, with at least 11 teams participating in the competition. Three teams will be decided through a 10-team playoff tournament.

Here is the allocation of places given to each confederation. Russia is banned from the qualifying stage due to its invasion of Ukraine.

Where is the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup?

Four separate parties have made bids to express their interest in hosting the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. 

Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands have made a combined bid to host the tournament in 2027. It would be a similar scenario to the 2023 edition and how Australia and New Zealand are both hosting.

South Africa and Brazil have put in independent bids of their own for the competition while the United States and Mexico, two of the three countries hosting the 2026 Men’s World Cup, have also shown their interest in the Women’s event.
