Who plays on ‘Sunday Night Football’ tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 8 game

By | October 30, 2022

The Bills vs. Packers game looked like it was going to be a marquee matchup at the start of the 2022 NFL season.

But as the two prepare to face off on “Sunday Night Football,” NBC is just hopeful that the game will be competitive.

Thus far in 2022, the Bills have looked like the Super Bowl contender everyone expected them to be, but the Packers have disappointed. They are on a three-game losing streak for the first time in the Matt LaFleur era, and now they are facing what is arguably the NFL’s best team. And at a bare minimum, Buffalo is a top-two squad.

The Bills are well-rested coming off a bye week, too, so that could give them an edge on the Packers. Green Bay is coming off a loss to the Commanders and simply hasn’t looked right since its loss in London against the Giants.

Buffalo is widely expected to pulverize the Packers. Can Green Bay make a game out of it and snap its losing streak in an epic way? Here’s everything to know about the Packers-Bills “Sunday Night Football” contest in NFL Week 8.

Who plays on ‘Sunday Night Football’ tonight?

  • Matchup: Packers at Bills
  • Location: Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Bills will be playing host to the Packers in Week 8 in what many thought before the season may be a Super Bowl preview. That said, while the Bills are looking like the AFC favorites, the Packers are decidedly not looking competitive in the NFC.

Green Bay (3-4) has dropped three straight games and has struggled against the likes of Bailey Zappe, Daniel Jones and Taylor Heinicke in recent weeks. The defense is more porous than it should be, especially considering Green Bay’s strong-looking secondary, while Aaron Rodgers hasn’t gotten into a rhythm with his bunch of young, unproven receivers yet in 2022.

The Packers are averaging just 18.3 points per game this season. That ranks 23rd in the NFL. So, if they don’t figure out their offensive struggles soon, they could fall further behind the 5-1 Vikings in the NFC North race.

As for Buffalo (5-1), the Bills are off to a terrific start and are very close to being 6-0 on the season. Their lone loss came in a sweltering game against the Dolphins in Miami, during which their players cramped up badly down the stretch. Save for that, they have largely played well and have put together some dominant halves of action.

Josh Allen looks like an MVP frontrunner; Von Miller has helped take the Bills’ defense to the next level; Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs look like one of the NFL’s best receiver tandem. Simply put, a lot is going right for the Bills, and their depth should allow them to continue to play well as they push further up the AFC standings.

You can never count out Rodgers in any game. Still, the Bills are — and should be — expected to win this contest.
