By | June 30, 2024

The long-awaited matchup is finally here as Caitlin Clark visits Diana Taurasi for the first time in her WNBA career.

Taurasi, a veteran WNBA player who’s played her entire career with the Mercury, had some choice words for the highly-touted rookie before Clark even began her professional career.

Fans had marked this game on their calendar from the start of the season in May, and the two star guards finally meet in late June.

Clark is averaging 16.2 points, 6.6 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals through 19 games. She’s led the Fever to a 7-12 record.

Taurasi is having a similar year in her 20th WNBA season. She’s at 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. The future Hall-of-Famer didn’t waste any words when asked about the upcoming matchup.

Who will come out on top: the rook or the veteran? Either way, the Sporting News is tracking live updates, highlights, and stats from Clark’s first matchup with Taurasi.
