After trading guard DiJonai Carrington last week, the Dallas Wings reportedly sought to acquire a forward before the WNBA’s 3 p.m. Eastern trade deadline on Thursday.
However, all is quiet on the Wings’ front, and Dallas is almost certain to stand pat at the deadline, according to Melissa Triebwasser.

Earlier on Thursday, Aaliyah Edwards found a new home when the Washington Mystics dealt her to the Connecticut Sun. Given the youthful Edwards’ defensive ability, she may have been a good fit in a Dallas front court that has struggled with injuries and consistency this season. Dallas ranks 10th out of 13 teams with a 109.7 defensive rating.
But the 8-22 Wings, knee-deep in a rebuild around star rookie Paige Bueckers, are loath to lose any of their three first-round picks over the 2026 and 2027 WNBA Drafts. General manager Curt Miller is poised to keep them all — including a possible #1 pick at the top of next year’s draft, when center Lauren Betts and guard Azzi Fudd will be available.
In addition, Triebwasser pointed out that the Wings are building a new practice facility that will open next year, and a move to a new arena (though delayed) could portend fruitful years ahead for Dallas.
