The 2023 Women’s World Cup is well underway, with 32 nations ready to give it their all in Australia and New Zealand to try and claim World Cup glory.

Yesterday’s action saw England book their spot in the Round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Denmark while Argentina and South Africa played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

In today’s games, Sweden thumped Italy 5-0 to progress to round off the second game week of Group G. In the later matches, Group F action sees France face Brazil before Jamaica battle Panama.

World Cup matches today

The first match of World Cup action today saw Sweden blow Italy away as they recorded a 5-0 win. Two goals from Amanda Ilestedt ensured they were well on their way to reaching the Round of 16.

In Group F action, Brazil will be hoping to record a second successive win when they face France before bottom-placed Panama will aim to cause an upset against Jamaica.

World Cup matches, results yesterday

The first match of World Cup action on Friday saw a determined Argentina fight back to secure a 2-2 draw against South Africa, though the result does little to enhance either sides prospects of advancing to the knockout rounds.

England then edged out a 1-0 win over Denmark in Sydney to put them three points clear at the top of Group D after both sides winning their opening match.

The other match in Group D between China and debutants Haiti saw China record a 1-0 victory despite playing most of the game a woman down following a red card.
