The New York Yankees completed a five-run comeback on Tuesday night to keep their World Series hopes alive with a 9-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
Blue Jays’ star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. started the game with a bang, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Blue Jays an early lead.
However, Yankees’ star Aaron Judge answered back with his own three-run home run in the fourth inning to tie the game, 6-6, and it was all Yankees after that.
Yankees Make MLB Postseason History To Stay Alive
Game 3 of the ALDS was full of fireworks, with each team’s stars putting on a show. But the New York show did just enough to keep their World Series hopes alive.
On Tuesday night, the Yankees became the first team in MLB history to be down by at least five runs and in danger of being swept and come back to win the game, according to OptaSTATS.
Teams in that scenario prior to the Yankees in Game 3 on Tuesday night were 0-38.

It didn’t look promising for the Yankees early, as Guerrero continued to pummel New York pitching, but Judge led the Yankees charge and kept New York alive.
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, and is now hitting .615 with a 1.908 OPS in the postseason.
To combat Guerrero, Judge went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored, and he’s now hitting .500 with a 1.304 OPS in the postseason.

The stars shined bright on both sides in New York on Tuesday night, and the Yankees got the clutch performance they’ve been waiting for out of their superstar in Judge.
Second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. also added the Yankees’ go-ahead run in the form of a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Although Yankee Stadium was bouncing under the lights in Game 3, the Blue Jays still hold a 2-1 lead in the ALDS heading into Wednesday’s Game 4. The Yankees will look to stay alive once again as the Blue Jays will look to shut the door on New York.
