This page is part of IGN’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons Wiki guide and details everything you need to know about giving presents to your island’s residents!

Giving presents to your residents will become available after you’ve completed Jingle’s tasks. Visit the How to Complete Jingle’s Tasks page to learn what you need to do to complete it.

Once you’ve finished up with Jingle’s tasks, you’ll be able to begin this part. But you won’t even be able to give a resident a gift unless the present is wrapped up with Wrapping Paper! You can use any Wrapping Paper you like, including the Festive Wrapping Paper. If you don’t have any, talk to a villager and they’ll give you 3, but after that, you’ll have to buy your own.

It’s impossible to give a resident an “incorrect” gift! They’ll appreciate whatever you give them, so Anhka will be perfectly happy being given a Dinosaur Toy. After all, that’s what the season is about: it’s you thinking of them that counts!

It’s worth noting that you can still give gifts to villagers who had given you toys while you were helping Jingle deliver gifts; after all, those were from Santa!

As thanks for giving them a present, your villagers will give you a gift of their own; there is no correlation between what toy you give a villager and what toy give you in return. They will however always be of a different colour from the toys you can buy from Nook’s Cranny during the holiday season. This is great for those who want to collect all the Puppy Plushie variants!
