Genvid Technologies and Konami have shared a new piece of concept art for Silent Hill: Ascension that offers a glimpse of the horrors that await in this interactive show.
First revealed today during IGN Japan’s livestream at Tokyo Game Show 2023, which is ongoing right now, the concept art “was designed to depict a character facing threats that the audience will need to help him overcome”.
Ascension is a narrative-based, branching choice cloud streaming experiment. Konami is essentially going to stream, only once, a choose your own adventure-style Silent Hill mini-series where the stream’s chat will collectively decide what happens, essentially letting the fanbase create its own Silent Hill canon.
The game follows characters from locations around the world tormented by new and terrifying Silent Hill monsters. These monsters threaten to consume people and their children as they’re drawn into the darkness by both recent murders and long suppressed guilt and fears. The player gets to decide who lives and who decides.
Silent Hill: Ascension is a collaboration between Konami, Genvid Technologies and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. It is slated for release sometime in 2023.
Ascension was announced at Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission showcase in October 2022. Silent Hill 2 Remake was also announced, alongside two further spin-offs (Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f), and a new movie.
