FF7 Remake Owners on PS5 Can’t Claim Intergrade Via PS Plus

Final Fantasy VII Remake players can’t claim the PS5 Intergrade bundle via PS Plus.

A quirk in the PlayStation Store means that those who already own the remake are unable to claim the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade bundle which has just been added to PS Plus Extra.

Intergrade, the upgraded PS5 version of Remake, includes the new episode Intermission – a spin-off story that features Yuffie as a playable character.

Unfortunately, if you already own the Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS5, you’re locked out from being able to claim or download the new bundle. Instead, you’ll find the following message:

“You can’t buy this product for the following reasons. You already own the following products, which conflict with the product you’re trying to buy: Final Fantasy VII Remake.”

This purchase error has actually existed for some time – players who upgraded from the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake to the PS5 version are then unable to buy or claim Intergrade. However, there’s never been a reason to do so, until now.

The Intermission DLC is available to purchase separately for $19.99, meaning that upgraders only had to purchase the DLC separately to gain access to the new content. But with Intergrade’s addition to PS Plus Extra, there’s a good reason to want the whole bundle. It is ‘free’ to PS Plus Extra users, after all.

This essentially means that PS5 players with access to PS Plus Extra will have to buy the Intermission DLC separately, whereas everyone who never owned FF7 Remake in the first place will get the content as part of their subscription.

A simple fix would be to include the Intermission DLC on PS Plus Extra, allowing PS5 upgraders to claim the extra content for free, just like everyone else. But right now, that’s not what’s on offer. And Final Fantasy VII fans aren’t happy.

“I hope this forces their hand,” said one user on Reddit. “I bought FF7 physical last year, and claimed the PS+ version, but have not been able to claim the PS5 upgrade for my digital copy.”

IGN has reached out to both Square Enix and Sony for comment.
