Mimimi Games Riding Into the Sunset with Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew DLC in December

By | November 22, 2023

Mimimi Games will release two DLC packs for Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S come December 6. These add-ons will be the final projects from the studio before it closes for good.

Mimimi revealed the post-launch plans in a news post on the Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew website. Each expansion comes with “several hours” of new content, including a new character with unique supernatural powers to add to your cursed crew lineup, a new uncharted island to explore, and a story campaign with six new missions.

Mimimi says both DLC packs will integrate seamlessly into the base game, meaning you’ll be able to take your new characters into almost any other main game mission. Specific details about the new characters and locations have yet to be revealed, but with the release date right around the corner, it won’t be too long before we see what the Shadow Gambit DLC has to offer.

Mimimi Games Is Closing Its Doors

Shadow Gambit launched for PC and consoles on August 17, 2023. Less than two weeks later, Mimimi announced plans to shut down “over the next few months.” Co-founders Dominik Abé and Johannes Roth said the decision came from financial pressure and work stresses.

“As founders and directors, we found it increasingly difficult to strike a balance between fulfilling internal expectations for the studio and being available for our young families,” Abé and Roth said at the time. “Meeting our goals of quality, company culture and management requires a constant level of energy that we simply can’t provide anymore.”

In the time since Mimimi announced it would be closing, it has delivered updates for Shadow Gambit and will, soon, cap things off with the two DLC packs in early December. IGN reviewed Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew and enjoyed its strategy RPG gameplay. We said: “With innumerable ways to approach its levels and an extremely smart integration of the practice of saving and reloading into the world’s fiction, it’s firing on all cylinders in all categories except perhaps enemy AI. Frankly, I don’t know anyone I wouldn’t recommend it to.”
