Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has arrived on PS5 and marks the biggest gaming adventure yet for our favorite friendly neighborhood hero who first swung into the gaming world in 1982’s Spider-Man for the Atari 2600. Since then, there have been some spectacular and amazing entries in the wallcrawler’s game output, as well as some that didn’t quite live up to Spidey’s good name.
In celebration of Spidey’s long history in the world of video games and the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we want to know your favorite game starring the legendary web-slinger. Do you think Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has already climbed to the top of the Empire State Building-sized list of games? Or do you prefer 2004’s Spider-Man 2, the game that first let us feel – in a way – what it must be like to be Spidey and swing through New York?
We’ve selected 35 of Spider-Man’s most well-known games to “Face-Off” against each other two at a time, and we need your help in picking the winner of these battles. Will you choose Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales over Ultimate Spider-Man? Spider-Man: Web of Shadows over Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage? The great power of choice that also comes with great responsibility is all yours.
(And don’t forget, you can pass on a Face-Off round if you don’t know a character by just hitting “skip” at the bottom of the page.)

What Is a Face-Off?
Like the name suggests, a Face-Off pits two things against one another and you decide which one is the superior of the two. In this case, you are voting to determine what the best Spider-Man video game is. It’s possible to see certain games multiple times, so you can keep voting for your favorites to ensure they get ranked higher than the rest. IGN’s resident team of Spidey experts pre-selected 35 games for you to choose from. These get randomly paired up and each time you pick a winner, it’s tracked.
How Is the Winner Determined?
When voting ends on 11:59pm PT on Monday, October 23, we tally up the total number of “wins” and “losses” each Spider-Man video game has and create a ranked list based on your choices that will go live on Tuesday, October 24. The game that won the most matchups will be crowned the “winner,” and in the event of a tied number of “wins,” the game with the least “losses” will take the top spot. If you continue to keep voting for your favorite game, they’ll have a better chance of ranking high on the list. You can vote as many times as you want until the Face-Off closes.
How Do I Know When I’ve Clicked Through Everything?
It’s difficult to know when you’ve seen every Spider-Man video game included because they are matched randomly, and there are many possible match-ups. Playing until you vote for all your favorites or ensuring that certain games don’t get in the winner’s circle are different options you can take with a Face-Off. By deciding the winner throughout all these match-ups, you’re ensuring that your picks for the best Spider-Man video game will have a fighting chance to reach the top of the list.
Which Spider-Man Video Games Have You Included?
The list of Spider-Man video games was chosen by IGN’s Spidey experts and we decided to limit this Face-Off to only games that Spider-Man stars in. While we love him in games like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, we wanted this to focus on games where Spider-Man is the star. Also, we did choose to include Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 despite it just being released because we know many of you can’t wait to swing and speed your way through this new adventure. If you have yet to play it, feel free to skip it!
