Open-world survival game The Day Before got a 10-minute gameplay footage trailer today, the first new look at the game in over a year as developer Fntastic finds itself embroiled in a trademark dispute.
The new look shows off some exploring, weapon modding, scavenging, and shooting down infected enemies.
The Day Before was originally scheduled to be released in June 2022, but was delayed until March 1, 2023, and is now scheduled to drop on Nov. 10. While the first delay was due to the game’s switch to Unreal Engine 5, it was further pushed back as the developer allegedly failed to trademark its name.
However, Fntastic told IGN last month that a delay was planned before the trademark dispute came to light.
“We planned to move the game’s release before and plan to announce it with [publisher] Mytona in a 10-minute gameplay video,” Fntastic said at the time. “And then you all know what happened. So to be on the safe side, to ensure there are no more transfers, we, along with the publisher, chose November 10. That is a safe date, given the trademark dispute.”
There’s been so many delays that some fans even accused it to be a scam, doubting that a game was even in development. Fntastic pushed back on those claims as well last month, saying “the storm will calm down eventually, and time will put everything in its place. When the game comes out, people will finally see the truth.”
The last glimpse we got at The Day Before came in April 2021 with a gameplay demo.
