Adam Cole signed with AEW and left WWE behind him. He will never forget those important lessons he learned while working with heroes in NXT.
Mr. Bay Bay recently made an appearance on an episode of the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast. Cole reminisced about his time on WWE NXT, and his decision to make the move to AEW.
Adam Cole also talked about all the different lessons he learned during his time in NXT. More specifically, Cole talked about his relationship with Shawn Michaels and Triple H, and all the growth he credited them with.
I look at Shawn Michaels, still to this day, as the greatest pro wrestler of all time. He’s the guy I idolize, to this day. He was so, so helpful in getting me to think kind of outside the box in a lot of ways and think about things that I didn’t normally think about.
Cole also talked about his own tendency to focus too much on getting a reaction from the audience. The former NXT Champion said that Michaels and Triple H helped him develop the right mindset for a fight.
My time in NXT did kind of help me tune into that a little bit better because both Triple H and Shawn had that same mentality of like, hey, alright, you’re in a war.
It seems that despite moving to AEW, Cole still has immense admiration for Michaels, and continues to look up to him. Cole even stated that his relationship “with Shawn, to this day, still exists good.”
Here’s looking forward to Cole’s career at AEW. It definitely seems like he’s poised to apply everything he’s learned from his idol Shawn Michaels.
