Lita is most certainly one of the pioneers of women’s wrestling in the pro wrestling world. She has paved the way for future generations of female pro wrestlers. It seems AEW had huge plans for Lita in the past as well. Interestingly enough, she just returned to WWE television.
AEW Dynamite made its debut in October 2019 and since then has worked hard to provide an alternate product to what fans see in WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
According to a report by Fightful Select, AEW reached out to Lita back in 2019 to appear on a show. It was reported that the company made a pitch to Lita last year, that would have seen her square off against AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker in a huge feud.
A match between the two was supposed to happen at the AEW All Out pay-per-view last year. However, the two sides simply couldn’t come to an agreement and plans were scrapped.
Fightful learned via sources close to Lita that AEW had reached out to the WWE Hall of Famer back in 2021 to appear on a show, but the two sides were unable to come to terms. Specifically, we learned that a pitch was made to Lita to appear in a top program with the AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD. There were talks between the two sides and a creative plan laid out to possibly happen around AEW All Out 2021, but it didn’t end up happening.
Lita made her return to WWE television on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, as she laid out Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Lita is scheduled to appear during the Women’s Royal Rumble match. It remains to be seen how she will fare in the match.
