Andrade El Idolo arrived in AEW after Double or Nothing. He will have his first sit-down interview segment next week to further explain his intentions in All Elite Wrestling, but plenty of fans are talking about him already. Many dream matches are now possible with Andrade in AEW.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there is some talk about Andrade wearing his La Sombra mask to the ring for his matches in AEW, but then he will take his mask off before the match starts.
“I think that I’ve heard that he may walk to the ring in the Sombra mask, but he’ll wrestle without the mask. That type of a thing, maybe.”
Andrade did have a La Sombra mask pendant on his necklace during the video package that aired on AEW Dynamite. He also owns that name and mask and can use it however he likes. AEW is all about tradition and honoring lucha libre by implementing the La Sombra mask in Andrade’s character would fit the company’s usual game plan.
We’ll have to see what happens in this situation, but there are plenty of options for Andrade El Idolo once he gets going in AEW.
What’s your take on Andrade in AEW? Were you surprised? Sound off in the comments!
