Belief That Cody Rhodes Doesn’t Care About Getting Booed By AEW Fans

By | November 6, 2021

Cody Rhodes is the EVP of AEW and has remained a babyface in the company since the very beginning. Rhodes‘ is one of the top stars in the company, as he has competed in several memorable matches and praise-worthy segments over the years. Rhodes continues to get polarizing reactions no matter what he does as well.

Cody Rhodes’ first match in well over a month saw him face off against Malakai Black at AEW Grand Slam in September. While Cody Rhodes was the babyface, he received a lot of boos from the crowd in New York City as fans simply didn’t want to have anything to do with him.

This continued for his third match against Malakai Black, where he ended up winning. Cody Rhodes continued to get a lot of boos. Despite that, Rhodes has remained a face, even addressing in a promo that he will never turn.

While speaking on the Battleground Podcast, QT Marshall talked about Cody Rhodes getting booed by fans all the time. Marshall stated that he believes Cody Rhodes doesn’t particularly care that he is getting booed by the fans.

“Yeah, I mean, well, it depends. I think they were booing him because, like, especially right now with Malakai, Malakai is cool. He’s fresh, he’s from the other place. So it’s like, we’re in the honeymoon phase of Malakai. So, I did expect that. On top of that, Cody is like a very polarizing figure, right? He’s got his own tour bus that suits. He’s rich. He says, he has a reality show. I mean, it is hard, on the surface, to like him, but at the same time, what has he done to deserve to get booed?

I don’t know. You know, I punched Arn Anderson in the face. So I deserve to get booed. You know, Malakai kicked Arn’s head off, he deserves to get booed. I’m trying to think of one thing that Cody’s done that deserves booing from the fans. At the same time, as long as they’re making noise, I don’t think he really cares one way or the other.”

Cody Rhodes previously made it clear that he will retire before turning heel in AEW. He also compared himself to Woody from Toy Story in a very bizarre way. Now it remains to be seen if Cody Rhodes truly will remain a face for his entire career or finally become a heel or not.
