Big E Makes History As 5th Former NXT Champion To Capture Top Title In WWE

By | September 13, 2021

Big E is the new WWE Champion after the September 13th episode of WWE RAW, but holding gold is nothing new for him. In fact, he was holding gold in WWE prior to his main roster debut.

Many fans forget that Big E was the second-ever NXT Champion. He defeated Seth Rollins to capture that title. With his big win on RAW this week, Big E is now the fifth former NXT Champion to capture the WWE or Universal Championship.

Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, and Finn Balor came before him. Owens and Balor were both Universal Champions; McIntyre, Rollins and Big E captured the WWE Title.

We will have to see what is next for Big E, but his 2021 is shaping up to be a pretty incredible one. Little did fans know that WWE would give him the top title on RAW by the end of the year, but that is what happened. Now Big E’s name is among the greats, and also at the very top of former NXT Champions.
