CM Punk Allowed To Keep WWE Theme Song In AEW

By | August 1, 2021

CM Punk gave Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” a brand new life when he started using it in his entrances. That song might just follow him to AEW.

Living Colour started following AEW shortly after Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk had signed with AEW. The big question is whether Punk will be able to use his old music.

According to PW Insider, WWE doesn’t have any exclusive rights to that song. It can appear in other mediums, including AEW.

While WWE licensed the song, at Punk’s request, he’s been long gone from the company and WWE had no exclusivity on the song in perpetuity.

Tony Khan has bought songs for stars in the past. Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, and Jungle Boy all saw Tony Khan buy the rights to music to give them a special entrance. Odds are he will dip back into his wallet for “Cult of Personality.”

CM Punk is 100% confirmed for a Chicago show for AEW, but it wasn’t noted which Chicago show Punk will be at. It is looking very likely that CM Punk will be in the United Center on August 20th. We’ll wait patiently until that special episode of Rampage comes around.
