Disney Pushes Emmy Award Nomination For Sasha Banks’ Mandalorian Role

By | May 12, 2021

For your consideration… Disney is trying hard to get the Mandalorian some love at the Emmy Awards. WWE Superstar Sasha Banks might just find herself with a nomination as well.

The 2021 Emmy Awards aren’t coming until September 19th, but they have the Summer to politick for some nominations. Disney sent out a blast to the committee and it listed off several people who could be up for awards. Sasha Banks was on that list.

In a graphic obtained by The Direct, Mercedes Varnado is listed as a guest star that could get an Emmy nom. If Banks can score this nomination it would be pretty epic, especially considering how much WWE wants an Emmy Award themselves.

Banks played Koska Reeves on the Mandalorian series, a role tailor-made for her by Jon Favreau, and Banks was more than happy to accept the role. She had to make the filming schedule work as she jetted across the country between WWE gigs, but she got it done.

All of that hard work on the Mandalorian could see that Disney+ series get any number of Emmy nominations. We will have to see if the committee agrees that Mercedes Varnado gets a nod out of the deal as well.
