Gable Steveson Interested In Returning To NCAA Wrestling

By | May 27, 2022

Gable Steveson is one of the most accomplished amateur wrestlers of his generation and he’s only 21. The Olympic gold medalist hung up his boots after clinching his second NCAA Division I National Championship earlier this year.

Gophers Wrestling coach Brandon Eggum recently sat down with Pioneer Press for an interview during which he revealed that Gable Steveson is interested in resuming collegiate wrestling.

“I know he would like to wrestle, and he loves competing, Really, it comes down to making that work. It would have to be something he works out with the WWE and Vince McMahon. Those details … it hasn’t gotten that far. It’s one thing if he said, ‘No way, I’m not doing it.’ … But he has the eligibility, he’s capable and he has interest in doing it.”

Gable Steveson is currently under training and going through college before he makes his WWE in-ring debut. His brother, Damon Kemp, has already made his WWE debut with NXT 2.0.

Gable Steveson received endorsement from Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 38 and even shared a moment with RK-Bro after hitting Chad Gable with a belly-to-belly suplex inside the ring.
