Jeff Hardy has always been a fan favorite, but his well-documented struggles with addiction and substance abuse have significantly impacted his career and personal life. These battles have cost him opportunities, but now it appears that Hardy is writing a memoir, which will explore his substance abuse battles and time in rehab.
While speaking to Metro, Jeff Hardy revealed that he is channeling his personal journey with addiction in the form of a memoir to inspire others, using his struggles and honesty as a way to connect and help people facing similar challenges. He began working on a memoir reflecting on his time in rehab, drawing from five years of journaling.
“I can help people through being public and pretty much outgoing about what I’ve been through. I’m like a lot of people out there in the world, just really struggling with addiction, alcoholism,’ he said. But hopefully that that’s inspired a lot of people, me just being honest with everything.”
Inspired by Nikki Sixx’s The Heroin Diaries, Jeff Hardy decided to document his experience starting from his first day in rehab, writing daily about his struggles and growth. Revisiting these journal entries, he has now taken the first step in turning them into a book, with hopes of sharing it with the world in the next few years.
“And I just started this morning, actually – I’ve got five years of journaling. I read this book called The Heroin Diaries a long time ago, I think Nikki Sixx put it out.
My first day in my first rehab, I said, I might as well write about this every day and just share my experience. So I started going back through all those journal entries, five years of journal entries, and I wrote my first page today.”
Jeff Hardy is looking ahead to the future, with plans to share his story in the memoir within the ‘next couple of years.’ Even though he has faced addiction and personal problems in the past, he wants to use his story to help and inspire others. Instead of looking back, he is using his experiences to stay strong and motivate those who might be going through similar struggles, and fans truly respect him even more for this.
