TNA Wrestling has announced a major change to the TNA World Tag Team Championship match at Under Siege on May 23, and it’s a shakeup that fans didn’t see coming. With Jeff Hardy unable to travel to Canada, Matt Hardy will now team up with rising star Leon Slater to take on the reigning champions, The Nemeths — Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth.
The Hardy Boyz were originally set to challenge for the titles, but with Jeff sidelined from international competition, Matt will have to adjust to the new pairing. Meanwhile, Leon Slater gets a huge opportunity to step up in one of the biggest matches of his career.
Jeff Hardy’s inability to travel to Canada is due to his legal issues stemming from past DUI arrests. Canadian border laws are notoriously strict when it comes to allowing entry for individuals with criminal convictions, especially those involving impaired driving. While Jeff has made several efforts to clean up his act and get back on track, those legal issues are still preventing him from traveling to certain countries, including Canada.
This is not the first time Jeff has been restricted from crossing the border, as his legal troubles have previously impacted his wrestling schedule. With Matt now teaming up with Slater, the question remains whether the makeshift duo can work together effectively in such a high-stakes match.
Updated lineup for TNA Under Siege on May 23:
- Cody Deaner vs. Eddie Edwards
- TNA Knockouts Championship: Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Victoria Crawford
- Trick Williams & Frankie Kazarian vs. Elijah & Joe Hendry
- TNA World Tag Team Championships: Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth (c) vs. Matt Hardy & Leon Slater
Matt and Jeff Hardy have a storied history as one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling, but with Jeff unable to travel, all eyes will be on how Matt and Slater work together in their quest to dethrone the Nemeths.
Will Matt Hardy and Leon Slater be able to find chemistry in time for their big title match, or will the Nemeths use their experience as a team to keep the gold around their waists? Let us know in the comments!
