NXT superstar Johnny Gargano is going to become a free-agent very soon. Gargano’s contract with WWE expires at midnight, and after that, the star will be free to work outside of WWE.
Gargano’s contract had no non-compete clauses attached to his contract. This is why Gargano is free to appear in whichever wrestling promotion he may choose without any opposition.
The report of Gargano’s contract expiration comes from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select. The NXT superstar and WWE were unable to come to mutual terms over a contract, which is why Gargano will be leaving the promotion soon.
WWE tried to pursued Johnny to sign with them multiple times. Back in 2019, Gargano was also offered a contract with WWE alongside many NXT superstars. While many of the other big names in NXT signed, Gargano did not amid the reports of many insiders claiming the terms of the contracts were not full of incentives.
The split between the two parties is “extremely amicable” as per sources. Despite Gargano leaving the promotion, the door to future collaboration is open for him, and the soon-to-be former NXT superstar will go his separate way for now.
